What this technology is for

Masonry has high thermal mass, copes well with summer heat, and the townscape regulations of the Balaton Uplands expect this traditional image. Where a building joins centuries-old neighbours, this is the least risky route.

One-off houses and holiday homes.
Converting press houses and barns to residential or guest use.
Wineries, tasting rooms, accommodation.
Extending and upgrading existing buildings.

What to allow for

A longer build, including drying times for wet trades.
Thermal bridge-free detailing takes design work: plinth, ring beam, reveals.
A solid wall alone does not meet energy requirements; the build-up has to be calculated.
With local stone, supply and skilled trades need to be planned ahead.
